Monthly purchases can sometime cause you to go over your budget - Meal Plans for June 27th - July 3rd

Last week we were under our $50 budget by $7.47, but before the end of the week we had to go to Wegmans and get another gallon of whole milk.  That left us around $3.79 to put in to this week's
budget of $50.  Even though our dinner meal plan wasn't much, we had some items that are not bought weekly.  So, I had a feeling that we might go over budget and when I was writing out our grocery list I had put some question marks beside some of the items.  Here's what our dinner meal plans for the week are:
  1. wings (we already have)
  2. cheese steaks
  3. hamburger helper (a carry over from last week)
  4. chicken enchiladas (a carry over from last week)
  5. lasagna

By the time we got to Walmart, I did not feel good enough to walk around Walmart so Michael and I stayed in the car while Jon did the shopping.  Here's the shopping list and the prices for each item:
  • hoagie buns  $2.50
  • Steak-umms
  • rinse aid  $6.68
  • loaf of whole wheat bread  $1.58
  • gummy vitamins  $4.27
  • fruit gummies  $2.00
  • chicken strips  $3.47
  • Nesquick  $4.38
Jon decided that since he was shopping on his own that he could get away with adding some Nesquick powder.  He decided not to get the Steak-umms at Walmart to save a little money.  The total spent at Walmart was $25.89.

Later that night, we went to Wegmans to do the rest of the shopping.  Here's the list of what I had hoped to get from Wegmans:
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.49
  • OJ  $2.49
  • lasagna  $6.49
  • deli sliced ham  $4.52
  • deli sliced Swiss cheese  $3.97
  • cookies
  • potato chips  normally $2.50, on sale for $1.99
  • fruit ?
  • peach tea  $1.69
  • lettuce ?
  • eggs ?
  • Steak-ummms  $3.49
Cookies were on the list because we've been using them as a treat for Michael's potty training, but they were out of the kind that he likes.  We bought the Steak-umms at Wegmans because since it was a smaller quantity, it was also less in price.  We ended spending $28.84 at Wegmans.

The total amount we had to work with was $53.79 and spent $54.73 in total.  Causing us to go over by $0.94.  Not too bad since we bought a lot of items for lunches and some other items that are more a monthly purchase.  I also earned $0.25 through Ibotta for the loaf of bread and another $0.25 through Ibotta for the gallon of milk.
