About Me

I’m Lucy and was born and raised in Parkersburg, WV.  I have a Bachelors of Science in Journalism with a specialization in Advertising and a Business Administration Minor from West Virginia University.  In the Fall of 2008, my husband (Jon) and I decided to plant our roots in Leesburg, VA, a beautiful city in the DC Metro Area.  I became a stay-at-home-mom three months before Michael was even born in 2011 due to having gallstones and being put on bed rest.  Before that, I had been in banking for over 12 years.  Even though being a stay-at-home-mom IS a full-time job, I run a digital design business (LEM Designs) where I design & maintain websites, design photo books & slide shows, and scan documents & pictures to digital files.

I love spending time with my son, husband, and family.  Since we live hours away from either side of our family, we do travel frequently to visit them.  I love taking pictures and generally always have a camera in my hand.  Our family has designated me as the photographer for everything we do.  I love listening to music, scrapbooking, and watching movies.

In September 2013, I decided that I would start a blog about the fun and exciting things that I was experiencing as a stay-at-home and first-time mom.  In this blog, I will be writing about fun things I do with Michael during the day, family activities, Holiday ideas, recipes, restaurant reviews, staying with-in our weekly grocery budget, things we've done around our house, and basically anything that goes along with family and mommyhood.

I'm glad you've stopped by and hope that you come back frequently!

My son Michael has completely changed my life and in a good way.  As I stated in my very first post, "Never thought that I would ever want children, but I honestly can't see my life without them.  A vlogger that I follow, Shay Carl, once said that he's doing his dream job that he never knew he ever wanted.  I know exactly what he was talking about.  All my life, I never wanted to have children.  Once my friends and sister-in-law started having kids, the feeling of not wanting kids just went away."

Many of my posts are about him, but soon he will be helping me write some posts.  I'm going to be calling the series Michael's Corner and have already started using that as a label on past posts about him.

"I am a big Foodie! Friends will typically ask me for restaurant recommendations and I frequently find myself in disagreement with the local restaurant reviews in the newspaper, so I got the idea that I would start my own Restaurant Reviews."

Becki has been writing Becki's Blog off and on over on her Facebook page and (since she's my step-mom) has given me permission to share them on this blog.
