Through all the research that I did for planning a Winnie the Pooh birthday party, I decided on something simple that we could do on our own. The website that I found the invitations and some decorations from (
Disneyfamily.com) did have ideas for Winnie the Pooh themed food. There were some neat dessert items as well.
We decided on picnic style and was mostly made by my mom and Jon. Here's the list of what we had:
- Hamburgers
- Hotdogs
- Potato Salad
- Baked Beans
- Deviled Eggs
- Macaroni Salad
- Chips & Salsa
- Potato Chips
- Lemonade from Chick-fil-a
- Tea from Chick-fil-a
- Bottled Water
Michael had gotten this Winnie the Pooh Easter basket and I decided to use it to hold the utensils at the party. I just folded the handles down into the basket and put two plastic cups in to hold the spoons and forks. I thought it turned out nice and brought the party theme into the kitchen where all the food was laid out.
One nice thing about our club house is that there's a kitchen that worked perfectly to have all our food laid out for everyone to choose from.
The birthday cake was purchased at
Bing's Bakery in Newark, DE and driven down to Northern Virginia by my in-laws. Of all the cakes that I had pinned on my board (I have since found some better looking cakes), this design was the one
that both my husband and I liked. It went really well with the colors
of the decorations. The Winnie the Pooh on the top is a stuffed animal. We served the cake with vanilla ice cream if guests wanted it.
I tried my hand at making Michael's smash cake by making it all healthy and then put strawberry icing on it. He didn't really enjoy it at all. I think if we have another kid, we'll go the cupcake route.
