Even having double the budget, we still went over - Meal Plans and Grocery Trip for February 20th - 26th

meal plans and grocery trip, $100 budget,
Since we didn't do our weekly grocery shopping the week before, this week's list was rather long.  I will admit that with the budget being double the amount, we did purchase some items that were not needed and not on the list.

We planned on making the following dinners:
  1. chicken alfredo
  2. tacos
  3. lasagna
  4. spaghetti
  5. crescent pizza rolls
  6. spaghetti boats
  7. pizza

One mistake was going to Sam's Club.  We got a little carried away.  Here's what we went to Sam's for:
  • Tide  $21.48
  • Red Baron pizza  $10.74
We always like to have the individual pizzas on hand just in case we need something to eat, but can't get out to get it or don't have anything else to make.  We ended up getting these items as well:
  • pizza rolls  $9.98
  • shredded mozzarella cheese  $4.73
Jon claimed to be craving pizza rolls and we found that the cheese was cheaper and you got more than what we would have gotten at Walmart.  We ended up spending $48.86, almost half of our budget.

Next door to Walmart we went.  Here's the list we had to work with:
  • gallon distilled water  $0.88
  • tub of butter  $1.98
  • loaf of whole wheat bread  $1.48
  • paper towels  $8.98
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Mickey cheese  $2.43
  • loaf of French bread  $1.68, on sale for $1.00
  • Miracle Whip  $2.62
  • Walmart pizza  $6.98
  • 1 L Coke  $1.48, on sale for $1.00
  • crescent  $2.18 x 2 = $4.36
  • shampoo  $4.97
  • cookie dough
Since we got the cheese at Sam's, we didn't need to buy more and I decided since we were cutting it close with our budget that we could forget about the cookie dough.  We spent $36.68.

We were expecting a snow storm so we had to go straight to Wegmans even though it was getting rather late.  Here's what was left with our grocery list:
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.29
  • OJ  $2.49
  • Italian sausage  $5.38
  • cottage cheese  $2.79
  • family pack of hamburger (6lbs)  $17.10
  • pop tarts  $2.89
  • provolone cheese  $3.65
  • marinade  $0.99
  • pepperoni  $2.49
  • potato chips  $2.50
I knew we were going to go over budget because of needing to stock up on the hamburger meat.  We spent $44.67.

Our budget was $100.00 this week because of having last week's $50.00 budget.  The grand total spent was $130.21, making us over budget by $30.21.  We ended up using Jon's debit card for his checking account to help offset the overage.  Next week should be better since we got some more expensive items this week and shouldn't need to replenish them for a few weeks.
