Amazing what you learn when you crunch the numbers - still under budget! Meal Plan and Grocery Trip for Nov. 21st - 27th

This past weekend we didn't get to do our shopping on Friday like I had planned.  We ended up doing it after church on Sunday.  Since it was so late in the day, Michael actually fell asleep in the car.  I ended up staying in the car with
him and Jon did the Walmart shopping.  When you give Jon a list, he makes sure he gets everything on the list.  Even if it eats up a good bit of your budget.  The meal plan for this week is extremely small since we are going out to eat for Thanksgiving.  Here's what we're having for dinner this week:
  1. Chicken patties
  2. Pizza
  3. Tacos
Here's the list that Jon had to work with at Walmart.  Some could have been held off until our next grocery trip, but he had to get what was on the list.
  • 2 cans pumpkin mix  $2.88 and $1.38
  • whip cream  $1.98
  • Mickey shaped cheese  $2.43
  • sugar  $2.08
  • chicken patties  $3.98
  • pizza cheese  $2.48
  • paper towels (not pictured)  $8.98
  • toilet paper (not pictured)  $11.97
  • Dawn  $2.48
The total spent was $42.48 and we still had stuff to get at Wegmans.  I know I would have probably scratched the toilet paper and Dawn off the list because I knew we could go the week with what we had on hand.  I ended up not needing either size can of pumpkin mix for the Mini Pumpkin Pies that I was going to make for Michael's Thanksgiving party.  Was actually looking for the size between and went to Target to get that as well as the evaporated milk I completely forgot about.

The Wegmans list was very little, but just because the list is small doesn't mean it will be cheap.  Here's the list we had to work with:
  • apple juice $5 .49
  • 2 boxes of pre-made pie crust  $2.49 x 2 = $4.98
  • pizza dough  $2.49
  • OJ  $2.49
The total spent at Wegmans was $15.84.  Our budget for the week was $62.18 due to the carry over of $12.18 from last week.  The grand total spent was $58.32!  That left us under budget by $3.86!  I really thought that I had accidentally spent some of next week's budget.  I also got $0.09 through the Walmart savings catcher for the sugar and $0.25 through Ibotta for the pumpkin mix.  If we weren't going out for Thanksgiving, I probably would have started buying items a week at a time so it wouldn't eat up the budget.  How did you do with your budget this Thanksgiving season?
