Great to have lots of money leftover from the week before - Meal Plans and Grocery trip for August 22nd - 28th

When figuring out this week's dinner plans, I ended up picking meals that we had most of the items already.  This helped out tremendously with the items that we needed.  Here's the list of dinners for the
  1. wings
  2. pizza
  3. Spanish Rice
  4. cheese steaks
  5. shake-n-bake chicken
  6. hot dogs
We ended up going to Walmart really late on Friday night because of waiting for Michael to be done with his nap.  With it being close to the end of the month and next weekend having a family reunion to go to, we had a lot of extra items to purchase.  Here's the list for Walmart and the prices for each item:
  • loaf of whole wheat bread  $1.58
  • can of kidney beans  $0.86
  • fruit gummies  $2.00
  • 2 cases of water bottles  $3.48 x 2 = $6.96
  • dishwasher detergent  $2.98
  • paper towels  $8.98
  • can of green beans  $0.98
  • can of corn  $0.98
  • can of pizza sauce  $0.98
  • 1lb of hamburger meat  $4.98
  • rinse aid  $6.68
  • trash bags  $6.97
The total spent at Walmart was $46.95.  Pretty good for no coupons and buying items that we don't get every week.

Because of it being so late, I went to Wegmans on Saturday while Michael was taking a nap.  Here's the list and the prices for each item:
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.49
  • OJ  $2.49
  • head of lettuce
  • 3 onions  $2.89
  • tomatoes  $4.28
  • shredded cheddar cheese  $2.79
  • Pop Tarts  $2.50 - normally $2.89 on sale 2/$5
  • pizza dough  $2.49
  • pepperoni  $2.29
  • green pepper  $0.96
  • bag of tortilla chips  $3.99
  • shredded mozzarella cheese  $2.79
Because we had a large amount of money carried over from last week, I was trying to get all the items for the taco salad that I'm making for the family reunion.  When looking at the heads of lettuce, I decided that I would get one next week so that it would be nice and fresh.  The total spent at Wegmans was $31.94.

The amount carried over was $32.00, making the total budget for this week $82.00.  The total amount spent was $78.89.  That left us with $3.11 to add to next week's budget.  More than enough to pay for that head of lettuce I'll need for the taco salad (look for a post on this in the next week or so).  I also earned $1.50 for the 2 cases of water bottles, $0.50 for the hamburger meat, and $0.25 for the milk through Ibotta.  I also earned $0.25 for the tomatoes through Checkout 51.
