Sometimes being the snack mom for the week can cause you to go over budget - Meal Plans and Grocery Trip for March 20th - 26th

meal plans, $50 weekly grocery budget,
This week we needed to stock up on a few things and buy stuff for snack time for Michael's class.  It was a good thing that we had a carry over of money from the previous week.  Here's what we have planned for dinners this week:

  1. Hamburgers
  2. Spaghetti
  3. Spanish Rice
  4. Chicken Nuggets

Before we headed out, I got online and signed into my Inbox Dollars account to see what kind of coupons they had on there via coupons.com.  Here's the coupons that we ended up using for this trip:

meal plans, $50 weekly grocery budget,

Off to Walmart we went.  Here's the rather long list of items we had to get from there:

  • 1 gallon of distilled water  $0.88
  • 4 bags of Disney cheese  $2.43 x 4 = $9.72
  • gummie vitamins  $9.78
  • rinse aid  $6.68
  • 1 roll of paper towels  $1.97
  • sugar  $2.38
  • cake mix  $1.08
  • cupcake liners  $1.48
  • frosting  $1.64
  • goldfish crackers  $5.98

We spent $40.77 at Walmart and we still had a pretty decent list for Wegmans.  It's a good thing that we had a carry over from last week.  Off to Wegmans.

Here's what we had to work with at Wegmans:

  • OJ  $2.49
  • 1/2 gallon whole milk  $2.49
  • pepperoni  $2.49
  • dozen eggs  $1.99
  • 2- 1 gallon apple juice  $4.59 x 2 = $9.18
  • 2 bags of popcorn  $2.99 x 2 = $5.98
  • Ritz fresh stacks  $2.69
  • applesauce pouches  $6.99
  • potato chips  $2.69
  • family pack of chicken breasts  $10.45
  • green pepper  $0.83

We spent $49.27 at Wegmans.  The grand total spent this week was $90.04.  Our weekly budget was $89.34 because of the carry over from the week before of $39.34.  That makes us over budget by $0.70.  Not too bad for what all we bought.  I also scanned my Walmart receipt to their savings catcher app and received $0.14 back for the purchase of the frosting.  I'll also receive $0.10 to my Inbox Dollars account for each of the coupons.
