Bookroo, children, babies, monthly subscription box, board books, picture books, monthly book subscription box, chapter books, books, children books, book subscriptions,
Almost three years ago I introduced you all to a monthly book subscription called Bookroo.  They recently expanded their box subscription with their new Junior Box and like their other box subscriptions, it is worth it!

Every year we try and make some type of Christmas ornament as gifts for the grandparents.  A few years ago we made these adorable salt dough footprint Olaf ornaments.

I know I've seen a lot of people talk about the fact that the school picture packages always seem to have too many wallet sizes in them.  I personally don't have that issue, there are still plenty of people in our family that carry around wallet size pictures, but I have come up with a solution to the problem that most families have.  Use those extra wallet size pictures in a Christmas ornament.  Here's how we did it.

DIY Christmas ornament, Lion Cub Scout, Lion Cub Scout Christmas ornament, simple Christmas ornament craft for a Lion Cub Scout den meeting, Cub Scouts,
A fun thing to do during your Cub Scout den meetings during the Christmas season is to have them make their own Christmas ornament.  Not only is it a fun activity, it will be something that will help bring back the memories they had that year every single Christmas.  I know that the ornaments I made during my Girl Scout years are some of my treasured Christmas ornaments.

family game night ideas, family friendly board games, Disney board games, Disney family game night ideas, Disney, Disney side,
Michael loves playing games; board, card, and video games and us parents don't mind it as well.  We actually were starting to have a Family Game Night at least once a week during the school year.  So since we love to play games, I'm always looking for new exciting games and tend to gravitate towards the Disney ones.  I decided that I would share the Disney games we have and those we think would be fun to have.
teacher gift ideas, crayon initital wall art, crayon craft, crayon art,
I had originally purchased all the supplies to make these for Michael's first year in preschool which was two years ago.  With all the things happening in my personal life, these amazing gifts fell by the way side.  Since last year was Michael's last year at his preschool, I knew I had to get the gifts done for both sets of teachers.  Here's how we made them.
pencil vases, simple easy and cheap pencil vases, teacher gift ideas,
I know that most of our kids are probably already out on Summer break, but here in Northern Virginia we have the rest of the week before break starts.  Yep, that means that I'm working on my end of the year "thank you" gifts.  Here's how I made these adorable pencil vases for Michael's teachers last year.  Perfect for those Handmade Sunflowers or even real flowers.
handmade sunflowers, handmade sunflowers for Teacher's Appreciate Week, handmade sunflowers for Mother's Day, handmade sunflowers for any occasion, crafting with kids, gift ideas that kids can make,
I'm always looking for fun ways to make gifts for teachers or family members.  Last year we made these handmade sunflowers for Michael's teachers during Teacher's Appreciation week.  You could make these for pretty much anything and is such a great keepsake.  Here's how I made the flowers (look for a post about how to make the vases soon).

Do you have children who love VeggieTales?  Do you love VeggieTales?  I'll admit that I probably love VeggieTales more than Michael.  I mean, I did name my first car the Junior mobile after Junior Asparagus.  Oh, and had Junior hanging from my rear view mirror.  Because of our combined love for VeggieTales when I was looking for a family devotional last year, I was hoping to find one from them.  Unfortunately, the Family Christian Store I was out was completely out.

Product Review and a Special Offer for You!
Seems that the new big thing are monthly subscriptions that come to your door in a box.  Every time I'm on Facebook, there seems to be some new box subscription that's recommended to me.  If you're like me, you want to make sure that it's really worth that monthly payment.  I'm excited to say, that Bookroo really is worth it!
preserving children's art work, children, school keepsake, photo book,
If you're like me, you probably have your kid's school art work just piled up laying around your house just trying to figure out what to do with it.  You don't want to throw it away because it's your child's masterpiece, but it's also taking up a space.  So, what do you do then?

teacher appreciation gift, teacher candy bar printable gift, printables, simple teacher gift,
This week is Teacher Appreciation week and today was bring in a sweet treat for your teacher.  When I was at Walmart last night buying the candy, there were several other kids getting candy for their teachers.
Easter, Fun Family Activity,
I'm always looking for some fun and fairly cheap ways to decorate the house.  What's better than decorating your house with the things that your little ones have made?
The Berenstain Bears On Stage, Family Fun, Children's Theater in Federick MD,
This past weekend we took Michael to see The Berenstain Bears On Stage that was being performed at Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre & Children's Theatre in Frederick, MD.  Being someone who grew up loving The Berenstain Bears, I was rather excited to see this show.  We were not disappointed!
Even though we brought our portable DVD player and tons of Disney movies with us, I wanted to make sure that when Michael was awake he was preoccupied.  I ran across this idea on Pinterest on how to help with the long trip.
Thanksgiving decoration with kids hands and feet, hands and feet paint project for Thanksgiving, crafting with kids,
I've always been about decorating the house for the different holidays, but Thanksgiving is one of the holidays I don't have a lot of decorations for.  Last year we made turkey decorations for the family and I wanted to try and make something different.  I've been wanting to do hand and feet prints with Michael for the past few years, but he has hated getting paint on his hands.  This year he was excited to get paint on his hands and feet (thank you preschool)!
At the end of June, the Dulles Town Centre retired the airport themed play area for a new Washington Nationals themed play area in the food court.  We actually checked out the new play area right when it
I love living in Northern Virginia.  There's so many playgrounds and parks to take your children to.  This is such a blessing since I have such an active son.  A few Sundays ago we decided to check out a park we had
This past Sunday we decided to have some fun since the sun was out and it wasn't too cold.  We decided on trying out a new park, Gwen Thompson Briar Patch Park (21660 Sterling Blvd., Sterling, VA 20164).  We were not disappointed and Michael really enjoyed himself.
We had made hotdogs for dinner the night before so we packed up all that we needed to have hotdogs for lunch at the park.  Filled up our Brita water bottles with water to drink and we were set.
We really liked this park.  They have two play areas that are just for 2 - 5 year olds.  One is actually fenced in, which I love.  The one thing that we were annoyed with is that parents would leave the gate wide open to let kids just run out.  I think that kind of defeated the purpose of it being fenced in.
As well as the two toddler areas, there were two other play sets, and two swing sets.  While we were there, an ice cream truck stopped.  I looked at what they had to offer.  More than just ice cream!  They had hotdogs and soda available.  Didn't really look too hard to see about price because we didn't really have the money for anything and had brought our own food.  There were some picnic tables, but they were already being used by people with the same idea as us.

Here's some video that I took while we were having some fun.

We do this every so often.  Most of the time we pick up hotdogs and drinks from Sheetz or pick up a pizza from Little Caesars.  I love that we live in an area that has so many different types of parks to take Michael to.  What do you do to have some family fun on the cheap?

a fun Christmas ornament to make with the kids for gifts, salt dough Christmas ornament,
I tried to do this last year as gifts from Michael, but we had such a hard time to just get two hand prints that we gave up.  Since I didn't have enough for everyone, I didn't even bother with painting the two that I had baked.
