Magic Kingdom 2014 - Day 2

Our final full day of our Walt Disney World vacation from back in December was another full day at the Magic Kingdom.  It was a very rainy, cold day, but we all still had a good time.

Since we road the monorail over on our first day at the Magic Kingdom (read all about what we did on my post Magic Kingdom 2014 - Day 1), we decided to take the ferry boat over.  Michael had a blast!

The view from the ferry boat.  Even on a nasty, rainy, cold day it's still a beautiful view!  Once we got off the boat, we went to the nearest shop to get something for the stroller.  Yep, I had forgot to buy a rain cover for the stroller before we left.  We ended up buying an adult poncho that fit perfectly over the stroller and helped make Michael's ride dry and somewhat warm.  I wish I would have taken a picture of it.

After getting something for the stroller, we decided to get a picture in front of the castle.  Wish the weather was better because this is a great family picture.

Our first ride of the day was the Jungle Cruise.  The cool thing about riding this ride during the Christmas season is that it's all decorated for Christmas and some of the phrases they use on the ride are changed to go with the Christmas theme.

After riding the Jungle Cruise, we went over to The Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride.  I've heard that sometimes Aladdin and Princess Jasmine will ride this ride.

Since we were in Agrabah, we went and met with Aladdin and Princess Jasmine.  We actually waited around for them to show up.  I would highly recommend, if you have a smart phone, downloading the My Disney Experience app.  I don't know how many times I was on the app everyday to see the wait times for rides and to see what times and where the different characters were in the parks.  So very helpful!

Before we headed over to Fantasyland for the rest of the day, we went over to Frontierland to meet with Woody and Jessie.  We then hopped on to the Walt Disney World Railroad - Frontierland and rode it over to the Fantasyland stop.

Before riding any of the new rides over in Fantasyland, we had lunch reservations at Be Our Guest Restaurant.  To read more about our lunch experience, you can check out my post Lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant.

After having a delicious lunch, we decided to go ride some rides.  Our first ride was Under The Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid.  A great ride to get out of the rain or to cool off if the weather is extremely hot.

We had to ride Dumbo The Flying Elephant.  When I think of Walt Disney World with kids, I think of this ride.  I wanted Michael to ride with me because I wanted this picture.  My favorite picture of my dad and I is on this ride back in the late 80's.  The ride has since then moved to the new part of Fantasyland and actually has two running at all times.  Something that I really liked was that the line goes into the big top and in the center is a little play area for the little ones to play while one of the adults waits in line.

For our little thrill seeker, we tried out the Barnstormer Starring The Great Goofini.  Michael had a great time.

Since we were nearby, we stopped by Pete's Silly Sideshow to meet The Great Goofini and The Amazing Donaldo.  Goofy and Donald are on one side of the huge circus tent style building.  Another great way to get out of whatever nasty weather is going on.

We then went to the other side of the tent to meet Daisy Fortuna and Minnie Magnifque.  The line to see Daisy and Minnie was much longer than the one for Goofy and Donald.  It was worth it because we got some great pictures.  You can tell that Michael was starting to warm up to getting his picture taken with the characters.

Jon, Michael, and I went on "it's a small world".  It's one of those rides that if it's your first time at Walt Disney World you should ride.  When Jon and I had gone to Walt Disney World for our honeymoon 10 years before, "it's a small world" was closed for refurbishment.  So, this was both Jon and Michael's first time riding it.  We also rode the Mad Tea Party.  Another must ride ride for any Walt Disney World visit.

One ride that we missed in Tomorrowland on our first day at the Magic Kingdom was the Tomorrowland Speedway.  Michael was excited that he got to drive.

Just like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh also has an interactive play area for the kids to play in while the adults wait in line.  This was actually more impressive than the one for Dumbo.  We also had to wait in line for Winnie the Pooh so Michael got to enjoy all they had to offer.

We had Fast Passes set for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and it's a good thing.  When it wasn't closed due to rain, the wait line was rather long.  Can you tell that Michael enjoyed himself on the ride?!?  We didn't even know that there were pictures being taken, but Michael looks like he knew - look at that huge smile.

Since we had a rather early lunch, we ended up having dinner at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.  I think this might be one of our go to restaurants at the Magic Kingdom.  I remember eating there as a kid and it hasn't changed much.  After eating, Mom went to watch Elsa freeze the castle and we went off to meet a bunch of princesses.

We got to meet Merida.

Met Ariel in her grotto.  Look at our little flirt!  We think he like the redheads the most.

We met Cinderella and Rapunzel.  I think we waited the longest to see the two of them than with any other character meet up.  We wanted to meet Anna and Elsa, but their wait time was even longer.

We met back up with Mom and rode the Prince Charming Regal Carousel.  We then headed over to watch Mickey's PhilharMagic.

Since it was our last day at Walt Disney World, we had to get the kitchen sink sundae at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.  This was mine and Mom's sundae and yes, you get to keep the kitchen sink!

Michael enjoyed his sundae even though it really was too cold to be eating it.

While the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular was going on, Jon, Michael, and I went on Peter Pan's Flight.  Mom decided to use the Disney transportation to take her back to the hotel after the fireworks were over with.

We had this picture taken after the second showing of Celebrate the Magic.  A great show that shows the history of all that is Disney and is projected on the castle.  A must see for any Disney lover.

To get great seats, we stayed to watch the second running of the Main Street Electrical Parade.

As you can see, there's lots to do at the Magic Kingdom.  We still didn't experience everything.  Probably could have gone a third day.  What are your must see things at the Magic Kingdom?
