Halloween Ghosts

simple and easy ghost for outside Halloween decorations,
Since we have a tree in our front yard, we wanted to try and have some of our Halloween decorations hanging from it.  One of our neighbors down the street had these awesome ghosts that also lit up at night hanging from their tree.  I looked everywhere for them, but had no luck in finding them.  I decided that I would have to forget about our ghosts lighting up and just make some on my own.

I had seen some designs via Pinterest and had an idea of what I needed and what I wanted to do.  I went on a quest to find cheese cloth.  I ended up finding it at Walmart (not the place I was expecting to find cheese cloth at).  I also bought the Styrofoam balls that I need there as well.  You can go with any size foam ball.  I went with 4in ones, but could have gone bigger.

I had my wonderful artist husband draw the faces of the ghosts on the Styrofoam balls with a black permanent marker.

Michael decided to start making them act like they were ghosts floating around the room.

I cut approximately 20ins of cheese cloth for each ghost.  You can make them as long as you want.

We used this spray adhesive so that the cheese cloth wouldn't fly away when the wind blew.  Trust me, the cheese cloth went nowhere.  We had some pretty heavy winds while the ghosts were hanging on our tree.

We sprayed them outside and let them sit to dry.

We wanted them to look like they were just floating in the air around our tree so, I used clear fishing wire.  I used the longest needle in this pack to thread the fishing wire through the Styrofoam balls so we could hang them on the tree.

What our yard looked like on Halloween night.  Jon was impressed with the ghosts and we are going to pack them up and reuse them again next year.  What kind of outside decorations do you do for Halloween?
