Staying under budget two weeks in a row! - Meal Plans and Grocery Trip for Oct. 17th - 23rd

We were on the busy side over the weekend so, Michael and I ended up doing our grocery shopping on Monday.  Since grocery shopping wasn't done until Monday, the dinner meal plan is a little short.

  1. Spaghetti
  2. French bread pizza
  3. Sloppy joes
  4. Chicken enchiladas
First stop was Walmart.  Not only were we looking for our regular grocery items, but we were looking for candy for trunk-or-treat at Michael's school.  Here's the list we had to work with:
  • Nesquick  $4.28
  • chicken strips  $3.98
  • loaf of French bread  $1.00
  • pizza sauce  $0.98
  • shredded mozzarella cheese  $2.48
  • soup  $1.35
  • Halloween candy  $1.98 x 2 = $3.96  $1.98  $2.50  $2.50 = $10.94
  • Mickey Mouse cheese  $2.43
The total spent at Walmart was $28.13.  Not too bad since half of it was Halloween candy.  Michael also asked for Mickey Mouse shaped cheese.  Everything tastes better when it's shaped as Mickey!

Michael ended up needing a nap so, I went to Wegmans after we had dinner.  Here's the list I had for Wegmans:
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.49
  • OJ  $2.49
  • potato chips  $2.00
  • apple juice  $5.49
  • pepperoni  $2.49
  • apples  $3.60
I ended up spending $20.05 at Wegmans.  The budget for the week was $56.56 because of the $6.56 carry over from the previous week.  The total amount spent was $48.18 which made us under the budget again by $8.38.  I also scanned the Walmart receipt with the savings catcher app and earned $0.25 for the apples through Checkout 51 and $0.25 for the milk through Ibotta.
