We are on a roll! - Meal Plans and Grocery trip for August 8th - 14th

Friday was a little different than how we normally go about our Fridays.  Michael had another week of swim camp so we ended up waiting until he got up from his nap before I took him to do the grocery shopping.  It did give me time to figure out what to have for dinners during the week.  I started getting into a slump
again, but slowly started thinking about different protein that we haven't had in quiet sometime and it all started working out!  Here's the dinner plan for this week:
  1. Pizza Casserole
  2. Shake 'n Bake chicken (already had the chicken breasts)
  3. BBQ pork chops
  4. Chicken Alfredo (a carry over)
  5. ham steaks
  6. turkey
I did have some other meals planned in case the meat was over our $50 budget.  As always, we travelled down to Walmart.  Here's the list for the items and their prices:
  • pizza sauce  $0.98
  • hot dog buns  $1.28
  • Catalina  $1.98
  • 5 pack Kraft mac-n-cheese  $4.50
  • Shake 'n Bake  $1.94
  • can of green beans  $0.98
  • can of corn  $0.98
  • small can of tomato sauce  $0.44
I did have two coupons for this trip and used them at Walmart.
I saved in total $1.75 and earn $0.10 for each coupon through Inbox Dollars.  The total spent at Walmart was $11.66.  I was pretty happy with that because I knew I needed as much money as possible to get the meat that I wanted.

We went straight to Wegmans.  If we had gotten there a little later, we could have watched the LEGO movie.  Every Friday night at either 7pm or 8pm they play a family friendly movie.  We always forget about it and when we do go to Wegmans of Fridays it's earlier in the day.  Maybe someday we'll go to it.  Here's the list and the prices for each item:
  • elbow macaroni noodles  $0.99
  • mozzarella shredded cheese  $2.79
  • pepperoni  $2.49
  • Doritos  normally $2.99, on sale for $2.50
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.49
  • OJ  $2.49
  • two pork chops  $4.09
  • ham steaks  $5.99
  • split turkey breast  $8.42
I knew that there was a very good possibility that I was going to go over so I had my cell phone on the calculator app and was adding away.  I spent $34.08 at Wegmans and a grand total of $45.74.  That made us under by $4.26!  I'm still amazed by that.  I also earned $0.25 for the milk purchase through Ibotta, $0.25 for the hot dog buns, and $0.25 for the Doritos through Checkout 51.  How's your meal planning and shopping going?
